ABOUT MY PAINTINGS

My paintings are created using pastels on museum board or French handmade pastel paper, then framed under museum glass (which means there is absolutely no reflection nor any glare and the painting is protected from UVA rays).

Many people think of chalk when they hear the word pastels, but chalk is to glass as pastels are to diamonds. Pastels are among the most permanent and most pure of all mediums. Pastels from the 16th century have been found in pristine condition. Pastel paintings by Degas and Mary Cassatt remain in perfect condition, as well as many other pastel works from centuries past. If properly taken care of, pastels will remain as vibrant as when they were created, for many centuries, and will never require restoration. Pastels are almost entirely pigment, with barely any medium, hence their purity and extraordinary light refractive qualities.
